This video is to take you through the steps in signing up for the free trial offer at Gamefly.com. and also to share my experience of the overall service. I would definitely take advantage of this offer if you are considering subscribing to Gamefly.
Now I had no intention of actually subscribing to the service because I got a butt load of games I haven't even finished yet. Some still in the wrapper. I just wanted to see how the service worked, play some of the newer titles and record my escapades for your amusement.

Now as we observe the details of Gamefly's offers let's take note of some things.
Check out the different packages offered. $8.95/$15.95 for 1 game at a time, and $12.95/$22.95 for 2 games at a time. The lower price is for the first month only. Now that seems a little high to me. Especially when you consider your options. Both Playstation and Xbox have subscriber packages, PCers have Gametap which starts at $4.95mo. and Steam which is not the same type of service but you can get games for under $20. At the very least you could buy used from Gamestop and keep the game.
Notice that once the trial period is over the account defaults to the more expensive package. What if you want to go from trail to the $12.95 package? I don't know how hard it would be to switch.

Since I had to give them my credit card info, I wanted to take a close look at the terms before signing up just in case there was some weird rules about canceling before I got charged.
Now let's go ahead and sign up.

The user interface in pretty straight forward. Anyone that's used Netflix will have no problems with picking your games and queing them up for delivery.

Do make sure you specify which system you own. I think the default was PS3 and initially it wouldn't let me choose Wii games until I changed it.

Over all the service is identical to Netflix. I had 10 days to play for free. I got the first to games within a day or so. Played them for 2 days and sent them back. From that point on delivery was a bit dicy. By the time I got the next game 3 days were wasted. And finally I got my 4th game 1 day before I needed to cancel. I guess they don't really count on people sending games right back. In all fairness I should take into account that the mail doesn't run on Sunday so that's were I lost one of my days.

Anyway my conclusion is I could take it or leave it. And with the other options for gaming I'd probably leave it. Hope this video helped.

  • if i clicked on 10 day trial, it still asked for the credit card number. do i still have to pay?

  • @sandwichdriver101 They won't charge it but they do want a valid credit card for you to secure the trail account. Make sure you remember how long your trial period is. They are counting on you forgetting about canceling so they can charge you at the full rate. I recommend canceling 3 days before the trial period is over to be safe. Try and cancel after they've sent you your next game. You can hold a game for up to 7 days after your trial period. But read everything carefully to confirm this.

  • lol no i meant grinder lol
