@sutaren The ban that was begun by Brigham Young was lifted by President Spencer W. Kimball in 1978. So the priesthood ban lasted 130 years. The LDS policy toward blacks and the priesthood was deeply unfortunate, painful and hurtful for far too many black people and enabled several (not all) LDS people to be more racist in their views about African Americans. Fortunately the Church through inspiration and revelation called upon the God of Israel and this ban was lifted.
@sutaren Your views are based on an unfortunate history in the LDS Church. There was more than one black man of African descent who was ordained to the Holy Priesthood under the leadership of Joseph Smith, Jr. Elijah Abel and Walker Lewis were two. Unfortunately the priesthood ban toward black men of African descent began with Brigham Young because of his personal hatred of interracial marriage beginning with Walker Lewis' son and a white woman in Massachusetts. The ban began in 1848.
Why in the world does he have to dress up like a Wall Street Corporatist? I wish Elder Bednar would just dress in normal, clean but plain looking clothing. People just don't trust this look anymore. He looks like a rich CEO or something.
I spent two nights this last week in the presence of Elder David Bednar. I testify that he is an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ and we truly had a revelatory experience in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The LDS church is true and our Heavenly Father loves all of his children whether they are in Africa or Austria.
i am sorry for your views. there are so many people of many races all over the world who believe these wonderful teachings. in africa the church is growing so well. the people there who know of the restored gospel love it like any other man or woman can with faith.
i know that god restored his true church and to have the true priesthood here is a great blessings and promises that famileiscan be together forever. i love my family and i want my family for eternity

@Boxlow Yes and Joseph Smith, Jr. taught far more truth than the modern LDS Church teaches.
