Not he first Merrie Melodies toon, but definitely the first WW2 ' war effort ' toon. I hesitate to use the term ' propaganda ', because it doesn't quite flt that definition.

It does, however, promote the scrap metal drives of WW2, in which nearly everyone participated. ( Ever wonder why so few pre-1930's cars are around ? )

Haha I was looking for this toon for a long time. I knew this guy who wanted to send his gf, Daisy, some flowers so I told him to call a teleflorist. He says to me, "Do I have to give them the address?"

So I told him, "No just tell them her name and they will drive up and down the street yelling, DAISY!!!!" This cartoon always came to mind and I would tease him with an occasional, "Daisy!!!"

Our newest girl dog, Daisy Mae, was named after this cartoon from my wife's childhood memories.  :-)
