Our office is filled with candy dispensers - typically traditional jars or bowls of goodies which provide a relatively mundane scavenging experience. To make free candy even sweeter, I made this M&M dispenser maze which makes colleagues work to get their afternoon candy fix. The control system uses an Avnet Atmel ATTiny861, which interfaces with the 8-bit Nintendo buttons on the 2-axis analog Playstation joystick. The ATTiny reads the user inputs and controls the pitch and roll motion of the table to guide the M&M through the maze and past the perilous fail-ramps of doom.

This video is my entry to the Avnet Dog Days of Summer Contest, showcasing my use of an Atmel ATTiny 861 microcontroller. Please thumbs up and help with the contest!

  • This is quite cool. Sorry you lost. This contest was a joke. Why bother to do anything original when all the winner has to do is copy a toy and blog spam it.

  • So cool!

  • I prefer red M&Ms
