also, most images on the web are in 72 dpi because that's the highest resolution a screen display's (perhaps thats archaic), or that's at least what they taught us in school

@julianbell90 we have 10 digits, there are 10 different types of digits chance, I think not, as most things on computer are just numbers, teh ones and zeros and also all the other fancy math that makes computers work. compared to more analogue methods it kinda makes sense

@gcbragg I publish a magazine and it is amazing how many supposed professionals in the business are unaware of this - handing over a small photograph and then expecting it to look normal when printed big!

@erikangel1978 12 x 12 at 300 DPI means the original image needs to be at least 3600 x 3600 pixels. Anything less and it won't come out right. Refer to your camera's documentation (manual) to find out if it can do that.

ok so if i wanna print a 12x12 they tell me it has to be 300dpi but dont know how to do that........ anyone can help

I thought it was digital because of binary code consists of digits, but another word for finger is digits, but then if thats the case why is it called digital?
