Los Hispanicos was a Toronto-based flamenco company; Maximiliano its artistic director and choreographer. "The proud hidalgo" as one critic described him, Maximiliano, Australian by birth, performed extensively in Spain, Portugal, Australia, Canada and the United States. In Spain, where he lived for some years, he was often seen at the annual flamenco Festivales, at venues like the Alhambra in Granada. He also appeared on Spanish television and at the Zarzuela Theatre in Madrid. For this Los Hispanicos concert, in Toronto in the early 1980s, Maximiliano is joined by well-known dancer Gisela, who was born and raised in Mexico City and who made her performing debut at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in 1972. "Not since the inimitable Argentinita have we seen such perfection" wrote La Meri of Gisela in Dance magazine. Gisela appeared as Guest Artist with the St Paul Opera and on special programs offered by the Miami Philharmonic and the symphony orchestras of Mexico City and Jalapa. She toured extensively in the US for Columbia Artists, with Maximiliano joining her on several occasions.
