Karl Birkeland describes the thin, weak snowpack in the northern Bridger Range outside Bozeman, MT. Compression Test Score of CT1,Q1 (not many taps and a clean planar shear) shows the instability. Snowpit was on a 25 degree slope.

  • Riding a steep line >30° with this snow brings dead!!!

  • A little user feedback: At the end of the videos you should translate to your viewers the indications of the test results in the videos. ie - this easy failure tells us we shouldn't be skiing here, etc.
