Hi I just got the seeds I bought from: bepreparednow. net They were only $44.99 with free shipping. It has 27 varieties of NON hybrid seeds and it is sealed in a Mylar Bag. It was the best deal I found on the Internet and the variety is great.

Question: I try to save cherry seeds after eating them by placing them on a paper towel to dry but they seem to become taken over by mold/fungus. I get concerned that the mold/fungus would destroy the seeds. Should I handle the cherry seeds like tomatoe seeds and allow them to ferment for 2 days ?

When you let the lettuce plant grow out, it will eventuall shoot up a tall centre. This will eventually produce flowers, and then little fluffies like dandelions do. Collect these fluffies and you will see that at the end of each is a seed. Also, see the video link in the info to this video.

also, see the video called "seed saving - lettuce 3"

hi hugo...
we use a screen (as you can see in this video) and then an air compressor with a small blower fitting on the end is enough to blow the remaining debris away...

Thanks for the great vid, id like to try this too. I have a few questions though. How many 'fluffies' come from one plant?. how many plants did it take to create the pile of seeds you sifted and finaly is it possible to eat some of the leaves on the lettuce without interfereing with it going to seed?

hola...
thanks for the support... umm... lets see... one plant will yield about five hundred seeds. the pile of seeds that is in the video came from about five plants if I remember correctly... and yes, you can remove the big, outer layer of leaves as the plant grows without stressing it out too much. You could also consider planting, for example, five or six heads for eating and one head which you will let go to seed.
thanks,
