From their album "The Morrigan's Call."

Lyrics:
Born in occupied Dublin town, as the sun shone down on tyranny,
Wolfe Tone grew up a privileged man, receiving a Trinity college degree.
He despaired for his fellow countrymen under the rule of the British crown.
When they rose up to claim their land, the British always beat them down.

The society of (united) Irishmen he founded in 1791.
They called for freedom from the crown. They wanted justice to be done.
Outlawed they were for their noble views. Wolfe Tone was exiled from his land.
All talk of freedom and liberty was forbidden and completely banned.

He fought the fight he knew was right.
For liberty he would give his life.
His cause was just, his reasons fair:
to free poor Eireann from despair.

In Paris he got the support he craved: troops and supplies to aid his fight!
The French would help the Irish cause; the flame of hope was burning bright.
But not for long I'm sad to say, the British knew both where and when.
Their spies had told them all and more; this rebellion failed again!

Peasants armed with farming tools, filled with honour, strength and pride,
faced the might of British steel. Thirty thousand Irish died.
Wolfe Tone was captured. He cut his throat; he used his own kitchen knife.
"After such heroic a sacrifice, it is no great effort to add my life."

He fought the fight he knew was right.
For liberty he would give his life.
His cause was just, his reasons fair:
to free poor Eireann from despair.

  • IM FLAGGING FOR NUDITY!!!!!

    kidding

    sick song

  • Brilliant looking cover and very mysterious woman shown with the crow showing the foreboding of such a creature as woman is and also the glint in its eye, egging us on, "go on see what life has to hold" (says the crow). faint whisperings of other influences enter the mind that are dark and awe inspiring.

  • @telecasteredtodeath they say australia is full of criminals, what they don't realize is that during the time that australia was being populated by criminals, it was a crime to BE IRISH!!! the brits were the worlds worst douchebags for a very long time.

  • @Mefgar mate, your forgiven.. &im sorry if i offended anyone.. i love this song.. ireland, its culture and people are very near and dear to me.. im Australian, like many aussies we have a grand heritage with the irish.. my great granparents are from county cork.. i toured Ireland in 2003 and it was very hard to leave.. and for the record, ive not met a ginger i did not like.. and i jig at the fridge daily.. or when the loo's occupied.. incidently, me ma can be a bitch.. :)

  • @telecasteredtodeath I just get really annoyed when people relate anything irish to "Jigging" ... Ffs we aren't all gingers and we don't know how to river dance...

  • @Mefgar you mean because i dance that makes my mum a bitch? 'way to go' for turning my appreciation for this tune into something fuct.. get on with your life junior.. dont be too cheeky to the adults..

  • @telecasteredtodeath way to go for sticking to stereotypes you sonofabitch.

  • this tune had me at 0:03.. im jigging all the way to the fridge..

  • so much i'd like to learn especially from bands like this, i just have no clue where to start. however i'd appreciate if everyone did NOT claim to know everything about all of their music/or just irish history. but ehh this is why i wish i was born 300 years ago.. in a sense.. lol..

  • печальная и красивая песня про ирландца Вольфа Тона

  • the intro sounds like the ilk of human blindness by skyclad

  • @RobEDL2010 Well, here's a little bit of history for you so, michael collins is'nt actually recognized by the I.R.A. as a hero. they see him as a traitor.

seems you're the one that needs some history lessons. as i said before, don't base your history from stories in songs. try reading a book instead.
