http://tinyurl.com/fantasyskills - full list of the books I have learnt from. This is the speed paint full version of the dragon drawing. It took 4 hours to paint this dragon.
As far as a painting of a dragon is concerned it's a little tame, almost disney-esque, so not quite pointy enough for a good dragon painting.

I made use of the color dodge tool in photoshop. Basically, for those who don't know, the color dodge tool mixes the chosen color, but at the same time brightens, the underlying layers. Dead clever. The results are quite random, which is great. But the resulting tones are useful. Trying different complimentary colors worked well in the speed paint style, just using a hardbrush set to opacity/pressure. Best use is to pick up colors from elsewhere in the image because it blends well.
