Is aluminum flashing with alumaloy a better alternative to bondo in rust repair?
-
#1 you dont put mud over paint
#2 you dont use a putty spatula to lay mud (spreader buddy)
#3 it was hardening up on you
#4 it was driping every where
YOU SUCK!!!!

@greyshell77 of course that depends on lots of other factors too,( climate when used, how often used moisture in the air/paint when sprayed etc)if all the rust isn't removed paint can start to blister in as little as 3 weeks, i always remove as much rust as poss,i'm not a big fan of " rust convertors", if ALL the rust is removed and bare metal etched/zinc primed, and then quality materials are applied properly, there's no reason it won't last for years,it's essentially a "new" car! have fun!

OH MY GOD , Maako / earl shibe body work. s.m.h That's what's wrong with America, people want a job done as fast and as CHEAP as possible. Not much is done RIGHT any more, QUALITY of work suffers so PAY suffers so ECONOMY suffers. The tittle should read (Modern Autobody Repair MISTAKE's)

Ok I have a question. why do all these body guys on the interenet keep slathering bondo on all over the place OVER the original paint job!?!? I plan to media blast and bring my car down to bare metal everywhere before body work. Why are people doing sculpted body work right over the paint job? Is that ok? It seems liek a poor idea - especially since your just going to have to buzz it all down later to re-paint the car..... unless you just paint over it? yikes. I need to learn more.

@neutronstar64 If you do a decent job.not super pro, but not sloppy-stupid. And you keep the car in a garage. About how long on average would you say it takes before problems start showing up? I know its kind of a wacky question. I'm going to try to do some of my own auto body - hopefully with as little body filler as possible.
mixing on aluminium is ill advised unless you are filling an aluminium panel. you are picking up stray filings of aluminium in te bondo and then spreading the bondo on sheet metal. when aluminium contacts steel it reacts and causes galvanic corrosion. this repair is going to rot itself right off the car in a year or so. also its advisable to feather your paint before you add filler because with filler t the paint line like this guy, prepping is gonna be hell
