Some people are concerned with HIDs "melting" the fog light housing.

This video illustrates the temperature differance between the two bulbs (if any) as well as the intensity of each type.

It should be noted that the HID kit is an H10 bulb with a 55W (5,000 Lumen) 6,000K setup.

This is a significant amount of output over the halogen! The cool thing is that they are about equal in running temperature even with the massive output differance.

Hey Andyass, You are Bang on! I did get scammed big time. Not only that The entire wiring kit and bulb holders burned out! It was that bad, I had to reaplace everything.

But what I bought wasnt a regular halogen bulb, It looked very very differnt. I will put up a video of it and send you a link. I got 2 more of these crappy bulbs with me, Paid a bit for them but the damage these things do to the car :( can make a bigg hole in your wallet.

  • @GregoryHouseMD1 if its working than you got SCAMMED. Hid bulbs will only work with ballast or a power supply. I remember a while ago i saw some "hid bulbs" at the dollar store however they were really just halogen bulbs which had a blue coating on to make them look white, they were advertised as xenon bulbs. If by some miracle the bulbs are really hids and somehow fit with the car connection then has your car caught on fire yet?

  • I just upgraded to HID bulb on my car. Suzuki Swift 1999

The stock bulbs were of 55/60W The HID bulb is of 35/35W.

Now I just plugged in the HID bulbs without any ballasts or relay. Is this ok ?

They seem to be working fine.

  • @MultiInKIEto Then don't buy a chevy. Next time buy something with a little more quality. haha

  • This Shit is true the Hid will melt Fog lamps. This shit happens 2 My 08 Tahoe After i upgrade to hid lights.

  • this is the exact question that i have in mind...will the housing will melt upone the usage of HID.... so will the temp differ according to the brand of HID?
