In this prototype version, you only use Barrett. You see, Barrett at some point in the prototype is supposed to help Roll start building a rocket to Elysium, where Volnutt is trapped. The game segues into the full game in this way. Also if you beat it you can unlock a debug mode of some sort and I believe transfer data from this to the full game.
There's another new character shown in the trailer at around 0:44. His name's Pick; he's the long-haired kid with a skillet on his head.

On note, JUST KIDDING. I just hope you can play Megaman Volnutt in this game. Cause after canceling Megaman Universe, Capcom better not screw.
