In this video, Kerrigan shows what Calvinism is according to John Calvin. You can see it for yourself. Kerrigan gives LOTS of quotes from Calvin's writings. This video is the first video in a new series called, "From The Horse's Mouth". Kerrigan plans to do the next one in this series on Martin Luther.

  • I think that we shld be humble when studying the bible and be careful not to read things in or reject plain language just bc it doesn't sit right with us in our limited understanding things,,all of these vs indicate GOD knows and plans everything Isaiah 25:1, 46:10, 14:24, 41:4, 48:3, 55:11 psalm 33:11 his ways are higher than our ways,,,lets not forget,,,we must be careful not to contend against the word of GOD due 2 ignorance and with good intentions reject truth I dont know who is right

  • @FinalCountdown2Jesus I agree, we should be humble. We should also be willing to talk about the Bible without appealing to majority, synods, councils, "great" theologians, etc. We should also be able to discuss things openly without calling each other "heretics", etc. Unfortunately, for the most part, I have found that those who hold to Calvinism are not willing to do these things...

  • Do Washer, Spurgeon, & MacArthur, claim to be Calvinist?

  • @FinalCountdown2Jesus Of course they do!

  • @Calvinism101 You're joking, right? Please tell me that you are! Adam walked with God and new Him face to face. He was living in Heaven on earth! You're really telling me that God wanted all of this mess, all of this sin, all of this death, most of His creation going to Hell? And that He not only wanted it, but made it happen? WOW! And I'm the one who is usually called the "heretic"? You sir, are a blasphemer of the God of the Bible. Your "god" doesn't exist...

  • @RefutingCalvinism So you can't see it? Adam, in his state of innocence, didn't have Christ or Heaven, but because of the fall and then redemption accomplished and applied, we have both for all eternity. Because of the fall, we no longer have access to the garden and we wrestle with sin all of our lives, nevertheless, we have it better than Adam ever did even before he fell: Rom 8:18. There is no substitution for the knowledge of Christ, just like Paul said: Phil 3:8.

  • @Calvinism101 When have I ever said, let alone in this video, that I "fear predestination rather than take comfort in it"? So, if I understand your position properly, you are thankful that the "god" of Calvinism made Adam fall and made the rest of humanity sinners because of his fall? So, you are "rejoicing in iniquity" then? Might want to read 1 Cor. 13:6. You don't sound too loving to me. Also, are you saying that ONLY CALVINISTS are qualified to speak about the Scriptures?

  • Laughable! You fear Predestination rather than take comfort in it. Sad exchange. "The first man fell because the Lord deemed it meet that he should." That's correct and we are glad that God did. I wonder if you can see that and not only see it, but be thankful to God that He did decree Adam to fall. If you can't see God's glory in Adam's fall, then you know little or nothing of Calvinism and are not qualified to speak on it or the Scriptures.

  • @mwilson70201 Amen, I agree!

  • You rightly said that Calvin got his doctrine from Augustine whom he quotes repeatedly in his writings Augustine got his ideas on predestination from the pagan philosopher Aristotle's book Metaphysics which says that God alone possesses determinance and every other creature can only do what he wills. Augustine was well studied in these matters and adapted these ideas to his own use. Starting from there he subjected the scriptures to this pagan idea, the power of this deception is remarkable.
