Dr. Eben Alexander was a skeptic until his near-death experience made him a man of faith. After writing his book Proof of Heaven, he has received skepticism from others. Watch to see his message to them and to hear why he doesn't believe his experience was caused by drugs given to him while he was in a coma.

well i dont really see how its nuts unless all your life you have pretended you are a separate self that is not a part of everything. from that perspective of course its nuts to imagine the you you think you are doesnt actually exist. without brain u wouldnt have this thing called local consiousness so be bloody glad you have 1 cus there is lots of cool shit to experience while we pretend we human. even bunblebee needs to pretend its seperate to see a flower but he doesnt think he has free will

try "choosing" anything. then wonder why you made that choice, and then that choice to choose why to think and blah blah. doesnt bloody end. u just react, just cus your mind gets in the way and helps you construct a person seperate from the rest of reality doesnt make you actually seperate does it? its just a part of your nature to think you are sperate. illusion of self helps this local brain, thus humanity, thus nature, thus whatever the all encompassing thingy is just play a game with itself.

if my genetics and socal construct have given me adrenaline, eheightened senses, a "sixth" spidey sense to sense danger and quick twitch muscles and blah blah blah then id react as youd expect many organisms to react. what has this got to do with me? in sport when you are in the "zone" it jsut means you are quicker at responding because you are going with the flow, shooting from the hip, inertia, "no mind" just letting your body/brain react. in alignnment

why would i hope? i accept things as they come? i accept i did not evolve with eyes at the back of my head or ability to fly, so i recognise i have limiatations. whats wrong with that? if circumastances led me to being eaten i cant just choose not to be eaten. i cant choose to defy gravity however much i "willed" it. i might think i have some control in the choices leading up to being eaten but even those choices were already decided.

"origination of intention from an upward causation principle" if you mean you think you the universe has a principle that drives it upward? maybe it does maybe it doesnt. depends on whichever perspective you choose to look at the universe from. however what on earth is that to do with proving us having an individual self and being able to exercise free will or access netherealms without r brains? nothing. just that our brain has the potential to experience diffrent perspectives but never reality

If it's already in motion from the beginning of time in your determinsim, how then do you account for your response time to many unexpected and adverse environmental challenges? If a lion bears down on you and you were predetermined to walk around oblivious to the lion, how then can you hope for an appropriate response? This is nuts!

well i wouldnt trust me or trust him. im not here trying to sell you a book, just trying to offer my take on his outlandish claims. i mean he's been on oprah, theres no stopping his train. but how can HE prove that it wasnt part of brain function? saying the newocortex shut down just means something else was working, for him to claim its outside of the body means he should be able to access that other side now. if you want to believe someone, at least have a good reason, not just belief and hope

how do I know whether a drone wasp knows he is part of an ecosystem or if he is acting selfishly out of self awareness? of course he wouldnt bother if he wasnt programmed that way, he doesnt look at himself and say hey thats me, he just does his part like any cell in our body. they dont know the bigger picture, nor do we. if im a materialist then what does that make you? i dont claim to reduce reality into materials, but i can say that i am mere materials. who even knows if materials are reality

self awareness is meaningless. who cares if we are self aware? does a bacteria care whether it is self aware? how can you prove a piece of rock is NOT self aware? why? just because it doesnt move? its meaningless question. there is No self to be aware. if there is a self to be aware it can only be the thing behind it all, ceratainly not this collection of cells that includes a brain and abilkity to look in the mirror, see a humanoid shape and say "hey thats me, I must have freewill".

seriously these big words are flumozing me. if you cant speak straight and talk from your own experience then give over cus its boring hearing you relate my words to some other chaps views or concepts all the time. everyone i know when their brain dies completely/vanishes/cremated/buried has never been able to communicate any message to anyone in my human realm to my knowledge. yet i have had experiences of dreams and hallucinations and self made daydreams
