Greensboro, NC Walmart: Handcuffed girl assaulted by mother; police and adults stand by

GREENSBORO, NC -- This video (below) appeared on Greensboro 101 yesterday. It was posted with the screen name officergaryknotts and the title "Walmart." Gary Knotts is identified in a separate News2 segment as a "Loss Prevention Agent." From the video description:

"I caught the girl in the white hat trying to walk out with over $150. Her mother was...Upset,to say. Greensboro Police response was good.I hope she learned her lesson."

At about the 1:50 mark, a person in uniform, seemingly a police officer, checks the restraints securing the girl's hands behind her back, then a woman, presumably the girl's mother, enters the room and starts punching the girl while the officer and other adults stand by.

Must be a pretty good mom, a bad mom wouldn't care if their kid got caught shoplifting. Bravo to the mom, and as for the "adults" and police just standing by. The mom never hit her in the face and I highly doubt from what I can see in this video that the mom was causing her any real harm, yes she scared the girl but she was trying to teach her not to steal.

You are wrong bellab. You like many others do not understand what happens when a child gets a spanking, or why they do wrong. You never got spanked because you never made bad choices. I started out saying I wasnt going to spank my son. He became a problem at school and I told him that I would not spank him, but that he should simply listen to the teachers. He did not, so he got spanked. Today, as an adult, he says he's glad for how he was raised.

my mother never hit me and i never get in trouble in school never so much as a dentenion as a adult not even a parking ticket. so these parents need to instill morals of good character cause what i learned is most kids rather get whooped and they just keep doing it over and over so beating clearly doesnt work.

There are laws to handle crimes. What the mother did, as well as the police and walmart security, was illegal, just as the shoplifting, however assault is a higher charge. I would like those of you posting on here to say how much you beat your kids so the law can take them away from you before you lock them in a dog kennel and beat them.
