  • Just to know nowadays I am using the TIETCO support for the yoke of the 737. Not at the lap anymore. It holds the ipad at the yoke using the paper clip. It was fantastic!

    Thanks

  • - Second question YES ! We carry all the papers with us. Brazillian laws requires you have at least one copy of the charts in paper inside the airplane regardless the airplane paperless system. Sometimes, when we had runways changes (due to bad weather) the transitions between the charts using the ipad was signifficant quickier than papers. SAFETY was increasing a lot that days using ipad

  • Did you company allow this? do you still carry paper as a backup?

At our company we are conducting an study with the ipads to look for the pros and probably adopt the ipad as a main chart consults. So, this is an study. I think is a good advise to ask in your company before use it. But I can see no problem using devices thtat enhance your situational awareness as the Jeppesen mobile FD.

  • And can you charge the ipad with an aircraft power port??

    - Yes, the Boeing 737 has an 110v outlet behind the first officer chair, and with a long ipad cable I´m able to charge it, as my cellphone and other stuffs... That´s a life saver. I think for airplanes that does not have it you can use a portable inversor to charge it. BUT You need to check with the maintanance if your cigarrette outlet can hold it !

  • Will that suffice for a 12hr day with multiple approaches?

    - NO ! I think that even turn it off it barelly can hold more then 6 hours. The problem is the BT connection that drains the battery quickier than witouh it.

  • How long does the battery last if you use blank screen option of 1hr and GPS half the time?

    - I have been using it with everything on and it lasts at least 4 hours before I need to charge it. But I keep all ON. The big issue here is the BT connection, I think if you turn it off it will stands more time. BUT turn it off and on gets a precious time, so FOR ME I prefer to keep it on all time. Maybe if you turn it off U get more time. need to test it.
