At least in India public demonstrations and industrial action are commonplace, I see these as a sign of democracy at work.

thats a sad tale dafame, things are not all better now by any means but there is more tolerance of people who dont adhere to caste system.

my brother is a white and from the uk and his partner is a tamil man, years ago this would cause untold problems, now although they dont crow it from the roof tops (homosexuality is illegal in india) there is much more understanding by the families.

incidentally i think the brits used caste system for their own ends and pre raj caste was not as draconian

Look, my family is Muslim, but what you have said is so intolerant. It's rude. These people are oppressed and yes, it is wrong. But to say that the Hindu religion is "the work of the Devil" is intolerant. Please do not think this way. Injustices happen everywhere.
