This research considers the controversy of modern acoustic instruments, which may have come to an evolutionary impasse, due to its high standardization that makes it difficult to explore design modifications. A new approach for the design and fabrication of an acoustic instrument is presented, using digital fabrication technologies, and specifically 3D printing, which has the potential to influence new designs, and to lead to new acoustics and ergonomic innovations. The projects below describes the key concepts of this approach, presenting the development process of such a 3D printed instrument—a prototype of a 3D printed concert flute, some other concepts for 3D printed instruments. This isn't a perfect instrument, some of the keys didn't close well and Seth had to improvise, and to use some fingers to close keys that didn't seal well. This is the reason - as some of you have noticed - the fingering seems odd.

wow we are one step closer to some of the tech shown in the fifth element, maybe it was a realistic vision of the future. Referring to the scene where they 'printed' Milos body in case my meaning is lost.

Very nice. The most interesting part for me is in the last few seconds of the video which shows some musical instruments that call for 3D printing, so don't stop early.
The other 95% made me a little crazy watching this guys balance his silver flute on his lap.

Why reference the fifth element? Star Trek had replicators in the 80ies.
