Damn people, what's with the class warfare? Just because a person is born into a certain demographic doesn't mean they shouldn't follow their dreams. Now, of course in her case, she made a selfish, terrible, deplorable choice when she conspired with her boyfriend to attack a fellow skater, but let's judge her on her actions, and not her societal class which is something she did NOT have a choice about.

@3Axel1996 Thanks. I understand now. Also, I should have watched part 2 before commenting as Dody Teachmann is recognised in that programme. Tonya's 1991 Nationals & Skate America 92 programmes were outstanding and would probably have won her Olympics in 92 AND 94. Great talent. Shame she became more famous for what happened off the ice.

This is when figure skating was at it's most exciting. shit was cuthroat. I loved Nancy Kerrigan. I thought the sun shined out her ass and when she lost to Oksanna and she made the comment about her crying, I thought, "This bitch is awesome." But Tanya was like the outsider of figure skating because of her background and I kind of felt sorry for her. I hate what she did, but, man...

Why was Diane Rawlinson getting all the credit for teaching her? I thought Dody Teachmann was her trainer at Worlds and Nationals 1991 and Olympics 92?

@premierrules Diane Rawlinson had been Tonya's long time coach since she was a child. Word has it that Dody Teachman was an assistant coach under Rawlinson and that somehow was able to convince Tonya to take her on as her new coach after the 1989 season. When things didn't work out at Albertville and the 92 Worlds, she went back to Rawlinson.
