I'm having the worst time writing this 10-12 page history paper, so I'm procrastinating MORE by posting this. So please comment! Yes, in case you haven't noticed I do like Nelena a lot as well :P... and for some reason I like putting David in the role of the brother, don't ask. Maybe someday I will make a short or one shot with him as the main character, lol. Anyways, 5+ comments for the next one ♥
Selenas POV
I watched the casket that contained my brother being lowered into the ground, leaving me completely alone in this world. Our parents had died four years ago and the only person that I had left was David. David made a decision that he was going to fight for revenge, after our parents were killed because of flight 320 being hijacked by terrorists. He told me that he knew that even though he wouldn't be able to bring back our parents, by joining the army he would be able to save other people from losing their parents. I tried to talk him out of it but he wouldnt have it. Eventually he convinced me that fighting for the country was the right thing to do. The last time I saw David was Christmas last year, so about four months ago. He was on his last mission, or so he promised, and was supposed to return home for good at the end of this summer. When the news came that he had died in action, I was devastated. He was the only family member I had left, and he was my best friend in the world.
As they were finished lowering him, and I wiped the dry tears off my face, I looked up and saw three people walking towards me. Two of them I knew. Demi has been my co-worker since I graduated college about seven years ago, and has been there for me through the death of my parents and now my brother. She was now sitting next to me with her husband Joe. Another man in a uniform just like David used to wear was standing beside me. He looked a lot like Joe, so I assumed they must have been related.
"How are you holding up?" Demi asked.
All I could manage to do was shake my head and let more tears fall out of my eyes. Demi pulled me into a hug and tried to calm me down, although right now it seemed impossible.
"Selena?" I heard Joe say from beside his wife.
"Yeah?" I asked him, my voice cracking.
"This is my brother Nick. He served with your brother", he said. Then he looked at Nick "Nick, this is David's sister, Selena"
"I'm sorry for your loss miss, David was good man, and he will be greatly missed by everyone" Nick said to me in a sympathetic voice.
I looked up at Nick as a sudden rage took over me. "YOU LET HIM DIE!" was all I could say to him. I stood up and stepped forward so I was in his face. I started hitting his chest as hard as I could. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't stop myself. I just kept hitting him, and kept crying, and soon enough I was out of breath and just laying in his arms.
Nick sat down gently and just let me sob in his lap for what felt like hours. He didn't say anything, and neither did I. Demi and Joe were still sitting next to us, also in silence. After a while I saw Nick nod his head at Joe signalling him and Demi to leave. They both offered their condolences to me once more before they left me there sitting in this strangers arms. Once the sun had set and it was now dark, the area surrounding was only lit by the street light at the edge of the cemetery. Before I knew it I had cried myself to sleep.
