even a non-jazz fan like me can hear her impeccable timing. And her clarity of tone is astounding.

Ella Fitzgerald brought jazz to people who otherwise wouldnt have listened to it.

She sang with power and restraint at the same time. And the clarity of her voice added a touch of innocence and naivety, like in the last few words of "for once in my life"

i've looked for years for this recording of "for once in my life"! does anyone know if it is available on CD? i have the version from "live from cave supper club" but think this is the version that was used in the "something to live for" documentary
