  • I love that when I Googled "flower sesame street classical music," this came up. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

  • Thank you. Glad you found it. Powerful stuff. the music, i mean

  • OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for posting this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I looked for so long for the song and then the video..... even as a little boy, this ALWAYS made me stop whatever I was doing, watch, and listen...... I think it was the first time I ever appreciated something as beautiful... both in sight and sound... it has touched my heart, my very soul even unto this very day................ it sometimes made me sad then, and always does now

I recognized this song over the sound system of a restaurant back in the 90's and asked the manager if he knew who it was. He showed me the compilation CD and that's how I learned the title. It's amazing that I remembered the tune 20+ years later from hearing it on Sesame Street as a young boy. Obviously it had had a strong effect on me as well. Thank you for the comment.

  • Wow, I've always adored this video. To me it's always said, "Look at the world around you, really LOOK. It contains more wonder than you can ever imagine." A heady thought for a little kid! I too thought I'd never see it again after so many years. Hooray for the internet, where nothing is lost!

  • I think I heard this haunting music while watching Pretty Baby. It was when she was in the limo going home at the end of the movie. It reminded me of the beautiful video I saw maybe 35 years ago. I Googled it and to my surprise was able to revisit an old friend. I wonder how many: flowers, stray cats, unloved children are also trying to grow up in a grey concrete jungle.

There must be something special about the people who remember and are so touched by this.

  • Thanks for posting this! I remember this when I was a little kid, and for decades tried to find out this song. So beautiful!

  • This song etched itself into my brain and never left and after decades, I found it again. The song make me teary for whatever reason. Maybe because only with music you can express something so beautiful.

  • I am touched by everyone's comments about this clip. Like all of you, this segment has lived with me since seeing it in the early 70's. We all seem to have "gotten it," the message of melancholy, sadness, observation, hope... There seemed to have been a clear intention to communicate this on the part of the artists who put it together. With something like this in the world, there has to be hope.

  • This music mesmerized me as a child, and it still brings tears to my eyes as I remember that feeling. Probably one of the first classical pieces I ever really heard.

  • @MeIancholyMan - me too! I remember seeing this on Sesame Street as a boy and the beautiful yet sad feelings it evoked. Have been looking for it ever since.

  • OOHHHH!!! I Loved this one as a child, so beautiful and melancholy at the same time...this is when sesame street was the best and before it's time...lovely!

  • @Sheri451 :Agreed.
