Chris Sarandon is great in this movie!
This is probably one of the most intense scenes. We come to understand at this point that the girl (Kathy) did not completely believe her sister about being raped by this man, Kathy's teacher. She still trusts/likes him enough to be in this situation of her own free will.
He ends up chasing her down and raping her after this scene. It's very sad. He gets it in the end, though...the big sister chases him down and shoots him.

Agreed! Chris Sarandon did a great job playing his charcter in this movie.
