Merry Christmas! These animated segments recreate scenes from lost 1960s episodes of the legendary British science fiction series starring William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton.

Clip from Doctor Who, The WhoSprites Project - The Daleks' Masterplan - The Feast of Steven

Starring William Hartnell as The Doctor, Peter Purves as Steven Taylor, and Jean Marsh as Sara Kingdom.

Animation by Garrett Gilchrist of Orange Cow Productions.

Garrett drew, directed and animated all material seen here. He is available for hire.

Garrett Gilchrist's animation work has been profiled in The Guardian (UK newspaper), SFX Magazine and the WIRED Magazine blog, and screened on the big screen by the Kaleidoscope organization. It has been featured on the official websites of Deborah Watling [Victoria] and Anneke Wills [Polly].

Garrett is still looking for additional animators over the age of 18 to help with tasks including animation editing and synching, if they have experience with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Anime Studio or Flash. Feel free to contact him via this channel.

Many thanks to Bill Redfern and BlenderWho, among others, who modeled some of the elements you see in these backgrounds, which were rendered in Poser.

Created in Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Flash, Anime Studio and Poser.

  • This animation is incredible! It's really nice to see missing scenes animated, and I hope you might make an entire episode soon.

Just out of interest, what do you use to animate the characters?

  • @blinkanimations Thanks. The art is done with xerox paper and Photoshop. The heads are animated in Final Cut Pro. The bodies are animated in Anime Studio [which used to be Moho].

  • You've done a great job with your animations. Are there any episodes you've managed to complete?

  • @SpeaksTooSoon It would take a few months to complete a full episode. If I received some sort of BBC funding, it would be a cinch to do this, but I'm still just doing shorter segments as a hobby at the moment.

  • Only just got a chance to see this.

Your character animation is really excellent here and suits the style of the artwork really well.

I think this is my favourite of your animations! :-)

  • Thanks mate!
