Chat windows are splitted by importance. The right box is for anything I dont want to miss: guild, officer and party chat, whispers, raid leader, raid, raid warning.
The box on left have everything not so important 'spam': say, emote, yell, guild announcement, archievements, battlegrounds, trade, general, skill ups, reputation, item loots, status messages, creature msg, pvp etc.
