Episode 9
[while Cait was upstairs talking to Alix, Nick had an awesome idea.]
Nick: [thinking: ok. I think she likes me. I really like her. Maybe I should just tell her.] [Just then, his cell rang. Take a Breath, his ring tone, played loudly, echoing in the kitchen. He answered it and put the phone between his ear and his shoulder so he could make the sandwiches.]
Nick: hello?
Joe: hey! Remember what we were talking about last night? Well, I have an idea.
Nick: [looked around to make sure Cait wasn't around.] ok. What is it?
Joe: ok. So you really like Cait, and your pretty sure she likes you. You are currently at her house, making her lunch. Why don't you make it a little special, and ask her at lunch.
Nick: how do I make sandwiches special?
Joe: A picnic in her backyard. She has a pool right?
Nick: yeah.
Joe: put out a blanket, and some food, right by the pool. Then ask her!
Nick: you know what? I'm starting to think you do have something between your ears.
Joe: hahaha [sarcastically] very funny. Now go. Get ready.
Nick: thanks bro. I'll tell you how it goes.
Joe: bye
Nick: bye.
[Nick hung up. He put out a blanket on the patio floor, set out their lunch, and some towels. He put the special box he had, in his pocket. He opened all of the doors leading outside. It was a perfect day for a picnic. It was sunny and comfortably warm. There were some wispy clouds for occasional shade and the pool was clean and pretty. He sat down outside and waited. He heard Cait coming down the stairs.]
Cait: Nick?
Nick: out here!
Cait: oh. [she came outside and saw the picnic.] wow! [smiles] This looks fun!
Nick: [smiles. They ate lunch and talked. When they had finished, Nick looked into Cait's eyes.] I have to tell you something.
Cait: ok. Nick: I...I really...like you. Would you be my girlfriend?
Cait: [stunned] I..I..[speechless]
Nick: If you don't like me, you don't have to. We could just be friends. But I really, really like you. [starting to feel rejected, he gets a little nervous and depressed]
Cait: I...I like you too. Yes.
Nick: really?!
Cait: yes!!
[they are both smiling now and they hug and laugh]
Nick: I have to tell you something though.
Cait: what is it?
[right then, her cell phone rings. It's Mike. She ignores it and looks at Nick. He hears her ring tone. Take a Breath. He looks at her]
Nick: do you know me?
Cait: [confused] yeah. Are you ok?
Nick: Do you know that song?
Cait: what, my ring tone?
Nick: yeah.
Cait: not really. My friend bought it for me. She likes this boy band and she insisted that I had one of their songs when I left home. So she bought me this one because of the message in it.
Nick: what do you think it says?
Cait: I think it means that when everything is messed up and there isn't anything you can do to stop it, that you should just step back and take a breath. People change and their promises fall through the cracks. But you need to take a breath and start again.
Nick: wow. That's what I thought too.
Cait: you know this song?
Nick: I wrote it. With my brothers.
Cait: what? [thinking he was joking, she laughs.]
Nick: I'm not kidding. Look. [he got up and led her into the living room. He turned on the T.V and put in a DVD that he brought with him. The DVD was a live concert performance of the Jonas Brothers. Cait sat down on the couch in shock. They closed up on Nick's face and Joe and Kevin. He wasn't lying. He paused the DVD.]
Cait: why didn't you tell me?
Nick: because. I liked being treated like a normal guy. You liked me for who I am
HOW IS CAIT GONNA REACT TO NICK BEING A HUGE STAR??? WILL SHE STILL WANT TO BE HIS GIRLFRIEND??? WHY THE HECK WAS MIKE CALLING HER???
