Actually I'd see it like this: The man is rich and is testing a new item at his business but something goes wrong and everything turns in to cubes. he's the 1 of 4 survivors and now he has to adjust to his new life and everyone else is a creeper, skeleton, spider, zombie, or enderman. In the end he defeats the dragon at the end but dies saving the others in the process.
