No Equipment Natural Magic Game complete!
In the previous video we left off when the party defeated Rest of the third tier, and Gogo aka Sexy died from his death counter. So, who replaces one of our best characters?
I placed Sabin fifth and Gau sixth on the list, as I deliberately didn't teach Gau any overpowered rages (*cough* Io) to make this part more challenging. And well, watching this video you'll see why I regretted the choice.
In this recording (and many failed ones too lately, anyone remember the failure at the most decisive point of the Goddess battle?), you see my mess up Phantom Rush so many times that my memory of a rather basic button input combination is rightfully questioned. I do remember the blitz fine, it just seems that VBA lags during the input, ignoring my actions partly - which results in a failed blitz. When the music stops (as if my computer freezes), I can just cancel the blitz and do it all over again but when there's no hint of that I can only hope that the combination was entered fully. My keyboard seems to work perfectly too, so it's probably my old PC.
Anyway, we lose Gogo, who is meant to deal damage along with Shadow, and get Sabin. Phantom Rush is almost as effective as tossing an Impartisan but the fact that I keep screwing it up reduces its effectiveness a bit.
At the beginning of the battle, I begin dealing damage to the boss immediately, using a Megalixir when everyone's at 1 HP and setting up Mighty Guard so that Sabin is protected as well. MG is not as important here as it used to be, as the single-target attacks Kefka has in his arsenal KO us instantly (remember, we're all unequipped). Hyperdrive, Havoc Wing... A quick Phoenix Down is the only proper counteraction in either case.
When Kefka starts shaking, it's the time to put everyone to full health again, because Forsaken is exactly the reason why we left the tower to gain some levels. The No Equipment rule doesn't allow us to Jump (no Dragonboots, and Magicite Shards are obviously unreliable) so there's no other way of avoiding the attack. Sabin is not as levelled as the others so he more often than not dies after Forsaken.
Once Kefka's HP is less than 10K, he starts countering everything with Ultima. NOBODY can survive it, and there's no way to Runic it either. It's a good idea to eliminate Kefka as quickly as possible at that point, and not to target him when he's not preparing another Forsaken, as he doesn't have his counter available then.
I know I am overleveled but I wanted to beat Kefka ASAP or at least before Goner/Ultima is used even once.
Yes I did get the Nightshade/Io Rage though I never used either.

Well, as you can see, Goner can be survived even at levels I show, and you are not very likely to see Ultima if you kill him fast enough.

I did this challenge recently.
But instead of having only 2000 HP i had doubled that (around 4000 and level 53 party members.)
However the ONLY move I had Kefka use for the battle is Fallen 1/Hearless Angel.
Reason for that is had 20 Imp Halberd spears to throw (9999 damage) and had Gogo Mime the throw command.

Hm, methinks you were a quite bit overlevelled.

Hey, isn't this the GBA version? Do you plan on doing the Dragon's Den?

Yes, it is, and no, I don't. I'm very frustrated about the GBA version right now. Failing blitzes, lag, and way too much time wasted whilst switching turns don't result in an experience as pleasant as it gets on a SNES emulator.
