Here is the third and final part of the three part technical pad drill. If you've not yet seen Parts 1 & 2 you should watch them first.

This part combines Parts 1 & 2, as well as introducing punching while moving backward.

We hope you enjoy practising this drill. Steve and I will be back with more soon!

  • @jmikejapan As regards the uppercut it comes down to distancing. Because on this drill we are hitting as the target comes in, we want to catch it as early as possible. If the fist was the other way around (which is perfect for when the target is closer) we should end up hitting the target with the inside of the fist as opposed to the “striking knuckles”. So we turn the hand over for longer range uppercuts … and do a similar thing on longer rang hooks too.

  • @jmikejapan You spotted that then :-) I used the same closing titles from the intermediate one and forgot to switch that over.

  • AH, @ 2:31 you take credit for the striking eh Iain?, haha Just joking!

I was wondering why steve upper cuts with his wrist in what appears to be a palm down towards the floor manner? Why does he do it this way? Is it personal preference or does it enhance the strike? If so, how?

    Thanks Iain and Steve.

    Peace be with you!
