Allenby Street, Tel Aviv
(26 minutes; post-production)
"The heart of Israel beats at the corner of Allenby and Shenkin, where the old guard meets the hip and funky on Friday evening before the sun sets into Shabbat..."
Inspired by the tiny Photoshop tucked away on Allenby Street in Tel Aviv, housing the work of Rudi Weissenstein, the noted photographer of the Declaration of the State of Israel by Ben Gurion, this short film celebrates contemporary life in The Land of Milk and Honey. It is meant to be a simcha (שמחה), rejoicing in the heart and spirit of Israel, which not only endures, but also prevails, in spite of the ongoing conflict which we know all too well, and with whose painful images we are all too familiar...
In spite of it all, the simcha dancer still dances on the corner of Allenby and Shenkin day after day, his spirit full of gladness, his heart full of laughter...His Simcha is the truth and the beauty of Israel, of the Nefesh Yehudi, joyful and full of life, in spite of it all...his spirit soaring in time with his lively two-step...
Ms. Anderson-Avraham decided to edit this short film in commemoration of Israel's 60th anniversary as she was conducting research for a longer project about aliyah
(עלייה), focusing on the stories of those courageous souls who came from all over the world seeking refuge in Eretz Israel between 1945 and 1948, singing the Hatikvah with hearts full of hope -
Her work on the aliyah project is ongoing, and she progresses joyfully, in spite of everything (...and "many a simcha has she danced" to refresh and recenter her spirit in her own way, in her own time...) -
She hopes that her work may touch at least a few hearts and minds, blowing them kisses "From Israel, With Love"...in hopes that one day, we may know peace...Baruch Hashem.

no one is miserable because you exist and live there...thats not the problem. the problem is the constant hunger for land that transgresses upon MY own country Lebanon, which your country has been incessantly trying to grab or destroy.

@microloverecords
If our enemies are miserable because we exist and live in our own country, that's their problem.
