I thought I would never ever say this But Paddy reillys version of this song is better than Lukes, sorry Luke!

That would depend on which versions you're comparing. Paddy's 1982 Festival Folk version on YouTube is probably better than this 1980 performance by Luke. But Luke's original 1973 recording is much better than Paddy's 1975 hit single version.

For me this interpretation is more valuable. Its, you may say a sentimental perspective. I feel it , just because the month of June 1980, was the "dead line", when the desease that would kill him, almost 4 years later, manifested itself so strongly.
