These flames are inspired by a little comment at the end of the web box icon video tutorial also created in Illustrator and fittingly we are going to create these flames coming out of that box! The sweet thing about this effect is it is really different each time and depending on the intensity of your strokes you get varied results which means you can use this in tons of different projects!

This video is also the first of my videos to sport the new intro. Let me know what you think.

  • Wow, Fire And Flames that's incredibly awesome man.

  • I love your tutes

  • the tut is great!!!

tried for full h to get the desired effect. here some tips:

    1. double check the flame strokes if the right blending mode is still applied (mine changed for to normal after grouping the strokes))

    2. before applying the strokes to the orange mask lower the stroke opacity (about 50%)

    3. duplicate the 'Path' layer 2-3 times for richer color and uncheck 'Group' layer

upon request i do a 'walkthrough' but this should be quite fool-proof ^ ^

  • pausing doesn't work. I get lost over and over. he goes wayyyy too fast!

  • can you guys chill with asking him to slow down... All you have to do is pause the video and open the necessary windows and then continue following along... his tutorials are brilliant and i have learned allot from him! thanks keep up the good work. =)

  • how do i import an ai file into an open illustrator session..? iv put together some separate vector images in illustrator as i learn how to use it but now i want to put some of the images together on the same illustrator page...currently all my projects are in separate sessions ...i want to combine them...how..?
