they're corrupt, but also great salesman. it is a much different movie than GGR. They pay homage to GGR and Wall Street, but people are really missing the point when they focus on that. The writer/director is talking about something that was going on during the nineties. A lot of guys that grew up on Wall Street went into Wall Street and became guys like this. This isn't a homage to other movies, it's a social critique. Go ahead and extrapolate what you like, but that's the fact.
