Pet Sounds is considered one of the best R&R albums. It's of the same caliber as a Beatles album, but goes in a different direction. If Smile had come out when it was intended, before Sgt. Pepper, maybe musicians would have been influenced by it as they were by Sgt. Pepper. There is mutual respect among the Boys and Beatles alike. Musicians hear different things in songs. We hear things that inspire us. I have been inspired by Beach Boys and Beatles, but in different ways. It's all great music.

Brian Wilson was and is a very talented man. Paul and John always payed him respect. In fact Paul's favorite album is Pet Sounds. But even Brian will tell you that The Beatles were the best at what they did. Nothing Brian ever did will compare to SGT Pepper or Abbey Road Brian said that himself.

Paul can even be heard chewing carrots in the original version of Vega-Tables...So get off that The Beatles were all sanctimonious trip. The Boys (especially Brian Wilson) were just as proficient musical geniuses as the Liverpool Boys...WOW...Get an education before you post inanities.....

All the hype, such as in Wikipedia, "The Beach Boys challenged The Beatles both in terms of commercial and critical appeal." The arrogance to assume they were as good as the Beatles! Then the hype about this opus, "I'm gonna make the greatest album! The greatest rock album ever made!" So I listened to all this Smile stuff on YouTube. Good Vibrations was the only decent song. But the falsetto voices of the Bum Boys, like the BeeGees, sounds too effeminate and poofy for my liking.
