    Nah, this is legit. I did it fine, on several occasions (where better to drink if not the street?). Its all about making sure the shoe and bottle bottom stay together so there is one impact, not two (a second bottle into shoe impact) and you have to be sure that the bottle is perpendicular to the surface. Also, don't miss. Softer "whacks" won't break the bottle but will take longer. Bigger "whacks" a bit more risky, but quicker.

    It's all about 1: luck (no matter how careful you are chances are that the bottle will still end up broken). 2. being careful enough (if you are sober - try hitting the bottle agains't something that is hard, but not THAT hard). The French guy was lucky that he didn't end up like you did.
