The Volvo S80 was redesigned for the 2007 model year. Frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Volvo as part of frontal crash test verification.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.
Additional features: * Side airbags: front and rear head curtain airbags and front seat-mounted torso airbags * Electronic stability control * Built-in child restraints (optional) * Antilock brakes * Daytime running lights * Lane departure warning system (optional)

  • The backseat door curved in a little so the leg joint part might have a minor injury.

  • @LoveTheCity123

Yeah I know. All German Manufacturer makes good and safe cars. :)

  • @SMB67T Why not BMW ? They make some very luxurious and safe cars ..

  • Yeah, Volvo makes nice cars! Mercedes too! I love Mercedes and Volvo Cars. But not BMW.

  • @NewDJKStew , How was i being ill-informed? I hope you werent mistaking my comment for ignorance.

Believe me, i nearly bought an S80 two years ago. I fell in love with the style of it, but after test driving the 3.2L V6, i was still left unimpressed with the drive of it. The steering was a bit numb and the handling was lifeless. It just didnt drive like a typical Euro-sedan ought to drive. I'll take your word for it that they are great cars to own, though.

  • @4MATICbenz - again an ill informed person lol... Volvo has really nice performance models of the S80, including a 6cyl turbo 285 HP and a V8 311HP, they are MUCH cheaper to fix than German cars... and last just as long if not longer. They are very fun to drive :) Could be my bias... but I have owned 4 Volvos all great, and fun.

  • Congratulations to Volvo, its so sad how deadly and unsafe side-impact crashes are compared to a frontal or rear crash in similar circumstances.

  • I agree about boring volvos but i'd prefer a saab 9-3 xwd over a 525i

  • props to the Volvo S80. It is very safe, however i still would easily buy an E-class or 5-series over this. Volvo should try to factor in some fun with the new S80. Volvos are just so boring

  • Wow, lots of glass flying in the cabin! : O the mercedes S class side impact test is very inpressive!
