  • I was physically born of my mother by no works of me other then to take my first breath of air. But I absolutely have to work/obey/yield to have a loving fellowship with my mother. It seems to me that God in all his wisdom even made our physically life to be a clear example of our spiritual life..but so sad how many people still want to make it muddy and confusing. Life is free. Fellowship cost you. Eternal life is free by faith in Jesus. Fellowship with Jesus will cost you.

  • He explained salvation very well. I know the only way Richard Bealle can get to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. I thank God that Christ saved me 6 years ago. (If you never have) I hope you will repent of your sin (see yourself as a sinner and confess it to God), believe the Gospel (the good news of Jesus), and call on Christ to forgive your sinful nature and save your soul. Only then will you be a Christian and a Child of God.

  • And BTW rofyle,I would be careful calling a man that God used to bring countless numbers to Christ a "fool." May I remind you what happened to the children that made fun of the Prophet Elisha in II Kings Chap 2 (a she-bear devoured them) God is serious about His men. David wouldnt touch King saul because he was God's annointed.

  • This is what james was saying when he talked about works. My works justify me before man, in other words the works and things I do are my testimony before my family and my peers, since they cannot see the "thoughts and intents of the heart."

  • Now you ask "So now that your saved, why do you not just go live the way you want to? It is the same reason that I am faithful to my wife, because of the love i have for her. I John 4:19 says "We love Him because He first loved us". As Paul said, the love of Christ constrains me. Now that I'm saved, and spotless positionally before god the Father, it is this love that keeps me close to him. I do works now because of this.

  • For by grace (God's marvelous grace, given freely to all men) are we saved, THROUGH FAITH (absolute trust in God and His Word), and that not of ourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works (NOTHING I do can justify me before God- for all our righteousness is as filthy rags before God- not joining the church, not living a spotless life) lest any man should boast. As the man of God said, if it was by my works I could come to God and say "Look what I'VE done! Am i not good enough to enter heaven?

  • Amen, Faith in Christ alone............. :O)

  • @PatriciaBrigh Again, if you think you are saved because you did something deserving of it (like putting your trust in Christ, for example), then you are every bit the self-righteous Pharisee that Christ promises He would deny at the last day. Innumerable times the Word also says obey the Lord, but that doesn't mean everyone has the ability to obey Him. You assume an indicative where none exists. Whoever does not mean everybody. Whoever means whoever of those who can.

  • Amen brother, too bad we don't have many good preachers such as this left these days. Thank God I'm saved by grace!

  • @rofyle Thank you, rofyle, for freely expressing your thoughts. My standing is on Christ's accomplishment, not mine ; His righteousness, not mine. Innumerable times the Word says 'whoever believes', 'whoever wills, let him come and drink ... freely ...'. God does not require the 'mighty faith' that you are referring to! Secondly, Christ would deny the ones who put their trust in the 'works' they have done. The ones who come to Him trusting Him, he'll never put away. God bless.
