My volunteer experience was at the private school Motherland Higher Secondary School, which had Nursery - Yr 12 classes in Pokhara, Nepal.
As the substitute Primary school art teacher, every weekend I would draw a picture of something iconically Australian in my sketchbook, and then replicate it on the chalkboard in each of my classes, while teaching them about Australian life and culture.
It was only one month, but
Nepal feels like home.
But nothing made it more home,
than being surrounded by 45 well-attempted, abstract yellow, orange and blue Opera Houses.
Teaching overseas was an amazing experience, and i'd urge anyone considering it to do it! You won't regret it.
Excellant!!
