Well, the Germans never came anywhere close to sacking Washington DC. But, if a German warlord ever does end up crowning himself "King of America" a hundred or so years after Washington is sacked twice, just as Odoacer did, then we can revisit this topic. But until that happens, I wouldn't be so quick to bash America. I'm sure the ancient Greeks said the same thing in their day, i.e. these dirty, uncultured barbarians can't even compare to the glory that was Macedon.

@MaximusImber It may not be sophisticated with a long history of tradition and so forth but its a culture. Also, every person who consider their culture superior will see less and less "culture" in other peoples the further it goes away from their own; it's why labels such as barbarians and pagans were placed on different people in a generalized fashion.
