Well, now that Youtube has switched all their videos to widescreen, I'm sure your video would be displayed correctly if you uploaded it widescreen. Whatever video software you use might prevent you from saving in widescreen format though.

Before publishing your movie in WMM, go to Tools>options>advanced and select 16:9. Then when you upload it, it should be widescreen.
