HERo: A tribute to Jessica Care Moore

THE TASK:
Create an original footprint/sole that showcases an iconic black figure that has had a significant impact on the black community.

THE CONCEPT:
Most people look for their heroes in history books or the fictitious accounts of comic strips, but my hero is alive and real; a woman. She wears her cape around her hips and her name is Jessica Care Moore. A world- renown poet, Moore has accomplished much in the world of literary art. She has performed with the likes of Ntozake Shange, Gil Scott Heron, Mos Def and others. The winner of numerous slam awards, she is also the founder and CEO of publishing company, Moore Black Press.

Her work is a sweet-sticky tangible, mixture of gritt, raw power and pride coupled with intellect, and true creativity. She doesn't simply read words; she performs them and brings her story, history and the future to life. She is a true inspiration and hero for all writers, readers, artists, women, African Americans, thinkers and revolutionary minds.

My hero is Jessica Care Moore and I can't spell hero with out her.
