  • thats a sick boat. i have a 17 ft express semi v. its got a new mercury 90 hp jet on it. i get about 30-35 mph. its awesome on the rivers we hunt!

  • @idahobass96 thanx ;-) i love those jet outboard engines! will buy a 40hp jet for my 14ft boat :D

  • Hello, I just got a 2010 162 smokercraft ultima with a 75 hp merc efi 2009, I have only had it out a few times and the fastest i can get movin is 26-30 mph @ 4500 rpm now my boat is a deep v hull and very comparible to yours. Not sure if im trimming it out all the way but i was told to bring the trim right down till im up on plane than bring up the trim just a touch. My prop is a 20 by 17pitch. Any ideas?

  • @MrJthelam

Well it's a Deep V hull boat so it will have more drag, I'm running @ 5800 rpm right now with the same prop as yours, your motor has to run at least @ 5200 rpm or you will damage your motor..and check if they placed the motor at the right height I think it's placed to low and it produces a lot of drag..when u trimmed ur motor up @ top speed check if ur steering wheel is light to turn if not then the motor is placed to low...oh and don't be afraid to trim that motor up :-)

  • @aonixer6

did you end up getting more speed with the 17p prop? thinking of trying a 19?

my engine looks to be at right hieght after looking into it ...the flat part right above the prop is in line with the bottom of the boat when trimed all the way down. I was affraid of over reving above 5000 cause the manual tells me not to go full throtle for something like 30 hrs from new. Although its a rebuilt 2009 not sure if it applies to that as well.

  • @MrJthelam

Yes I got 2 mph more speed, better holeshot and mileage with the 17p prop..and yeah don't go full throttle but you can go full throtle for like 10 sec it won't hurt your motor...what rpm is your current cruise speed?

  • I havent had it out enough yet to give you an acurate answer but Ive tried to keep it below 5000 because i didnt know any better. I am hopping to take it out again this week to a calmer lake than the one that i usually go to. I will let you know how it works out after learning a few tips. Thanks for your help.

  • correction prop is 13.25 by 17pitch

  • Thanx man...and what tank?? a 15gallon tank;) we gonna put a 30gallon tank after we have done some mod on the boat..
