A swimmer has lost his legs after being attacked by a great white shark in South Africa.

The 42-year-old man, who ignored warnings to stay out of the water at a beach near Cape Town, entered the ocean 90 minutes after the shark had been spotted and the beach closed.

The man, believed to be British, has been airlifted to hospital for treatment.

  • The victim was considering suing the authorities for negligence but was told he didn't have a leg to stand on.

  • If you know there are sharks in the water, people tell you there are sharks in the water, the beach is closed because there are sharks in the water and you STILL insist on going for a swim then you deserve to be lunch. Of course now he will claim for incapacity benefits so the taxpayer now has to pay for his stupidity for the rest of his life.

the shark should have eaten him and saved everyone a lot of money and done us a favor removing one stupid person from the gene pool.

  • I fail to see why don't they just kill them...

  • A week before I went to South Africa (Eastern Cape) a guy was attacked by a shark, I was terrified standing near the water's edge never mind going into the fucking sea! Only one word can be used for this bloke: DICKHEAD!

  • lol

  • Omg

  • Michael Cohen lost one leg, not both.

Being someone who lives in Cape Town, I think people need to realise that yes the sharks are protected, but their food source is not. The more fish are taken out of the ocean, the less the seals and juvenile sharks have to eat. This leads to less seals in the water and too many sharks. They are territorial, and because of the lack of food source they are looking elsewhere and coming closer to the beaches more often

  • @arderneroad Ok

  • @BLOWUPFISH - This guy had form for ignoring warnings previous to this happening. It's a shame he has lost limbs, but ultimately he has to take responsibility for what he has done to himself!! It's not the sharks fault - they're apex predators for a reason.
