I've rang on these and they are nice bells-none of them are on a carillon

Not as many as the Dortrecht Grote kerk In the Netherlands They have 67 (Well 6 of them are rung by rope and the rest of the 61 are on carillon.).

I agree with clapperend. 12 and 8 have an even number of pairs of bells and 10 has an odd number which might be the reason- just that we don't openly realise. It is the same reason that 6 and 10 bell extents need two singles but 8 and 12 bell do not.

That's pretty much insane! It's good to have towers like this, but I would not advocate upgrading towers to 16 nowadays: I think the money's better spent on upgrading 3, 4 or 6 bell towers.
