St. Louis has a rich African American history. Black in St. Louis set the stage for the civil rights movement around the country. FIRE, Firefighters Institute for Racial Equality, was organized to end unfair hiring and promotional practices in the Fire Department in St. Louis. Their successful efforts set the example for Fire Departments and Police Departments around the country. This Mini Documentary is a verbal history of part of this movement.
