This is a simple explanation of The Monty Hall Problem, showing that there is indeed a mathematical advantage to switching after you choose your first card.
The whole reason why it is better to switch is that the door you initially chose becomes OFF LIMITS to the game show host. The host avoids your door because he has to - it's the rules. No reason to gain confidence in that door just because he avoids it. BUT he avoids the other door because - ooh! I don't know, why did he avoid that door? He certainly didn't have to but he did.
