The object ball is on the cushion almost to the side pocket. It can be banked one cushion to the opposite side pocket even from an angle that looks impossible. There is no double-kiss on the shot.

  • this is a dumb choice of shot anyway-- carom is the best way to go

  • @houstexman29 If you are playing bank pool the alternatives would be to bank the ball to some other pocket or play safe. In any case, the shot is more of a proposition shot since it is rare that the position comes up in a normal game. The object ball has to be a certain distance from the side pocket within probably less than a quarter inch.

  • what english did you use on that shot Bob J. ??

  • This shot doesn't require any English, but it does require a stiff facing in the side pocket. It is about a half-ball hit.

  • @houstexman29 dunno why this comment got posted on this vid-- sorry lol- it was for the overspin vid

  • @Syncness Actually, the shot was played without side spin on the cue ball. You cannot "stiff" the ball enough with spin to get out of the kiss with that position.

  • Left english would be inside english, it's a great shot, I would hate to try this for money.

  • @willienunya He's using left english which causes the target ball to spin right after hitting the cushion, reducing the angle.

He's also hitting it high speed so the white exits faster, but it also reduces the spin transfer.

Alternatively, you could also use backspin to reduce the rebound angle, but then the cue ball won't exit as fast.

  • To me it looks like he's using inside english. I could be wrong though.

  • Facing helps keep the angle short... pinches against the facing
