Note that the chinese bureaucrats built the biggest boondongle strategy to defend against the mongols. Thousands of miles, later they forgot the most effective way to overcome a wall. i.e. Walk around it. Because god forbid, or in their case, Emperor forbid people actually took up arms to defend against invading Mongol hordes.

@utubehayter Its my understanding that in china the great wall (really a series of defences built over many years) was seen as a symbol of government waste and failure. It was tremendously expensive, in blood and treasure, but failed anyway. However When westerns first explored it, they were impressed and following their leade its became a symbol of national pride. Probably more than the pyramids, its should stand as a mounument to the utter failure of statism.

although the concept can be considered as a stage of natural progression,the reality of it is that expansionism is not sustainable.governments sell a vision of the "ideal"future ie the statist metro tranhumanist utopia. if everyone is free there is no need for a goal.the society will evolve as a sum of its parts.the statist corporatist system is anti nature,synthetic superficial and unbalanced.its arogant to think we can control nature. anarchism is a human reflection of a natural model.
