Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers/Christian Debater (YouTube channel: CANSWERSTV, websites: BIBLEQUERY.ORG, HISTORYCART.COM & MUSLIMHOPE.COM) debates Steve McCalip, author & producer of "KingJamesVideoMan," on the subject of WHO did Jesus die for. Bob L. Ross, leading publisher of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (please check official website: PILGRIMPUBLICATIONS.COM), is the moderator. Educational backgrounds of debaters: Wessels- Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, completed extension course taught by Dr. J.I. Packer of Regent College, Vancouver, Canada, studied virtually every book or tape produced by Walter Martin of the Christian Research Institute & Dr. R.C. Sproul of Ligonier Ministries, worked with Pilgrim Publications (C.H. Spurgeon) since 1990, attended Dayspring Fellowship of Austin, Texas (Pastor Jackson Boyett, www.dayspringchapel.org) since 1982. McCalip- Bachelor's degree from Baylor University, 2 Master's Degrees in Education from the University of Houston. Theological background: Wessels- Classical Protestant Reformed Doctine, Affirms the Trinity (Father , Son & Holy Spirit), McCalip- Arminian Doctrine, Denial of the Trinity, Affirms King James Bible only. A popular book out is entitled "History's Greatest Lies;" although this book doesn't mention the following it should have: Darwin's Evolution Theory, Global Warming, Muhammad was a prophet of God, the only true "church" is headed by a Roman Pope, etc. Another "greatest lie" would be to say Jesus died for people He did not indeed die for. There are only 3 possibilities: 1. Christ died to save all men therefore all are saved 2. Christ died to save no one in particular (men then must save themselves) or 3. Christ died to save a certain number (who God then actively saves) from eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire. This debate has been going on for centuries & in recent times has had more notoriety because of a book written by Dave Hunt of "The Berean Call" entitled, "What Love Is This?," which makes many of the same emotional Arminian arguments as Steve McCalip in this debate. Multnomah Publishers also produced a book entitled "Debating Calvinism" between Hunt & James R. White of Alpha & Omega Ministries. Ergun Caner of Islam fame has also taken issue with "The Five Points of Calvinism," namely: 1. Total Depravity, 2. Unconditional Election, 3. Limited Atonement, 4. Irresistible Grace, & 5. Perseverance of the Saints. The real question, ""Is God sovereign over man or is man's free will sovereign over God & His purposes?" Who is REALLY in control?

This is just a single episode of a 24 part (10 minute presentation) debate. To see this same 4 hour debate in 1 hour segments as it was originally recorded, copy & paste the following title into the YOUTUBE search box, "DID JESUS DIE FOR EVERYBODY WHO EVER LIVED OR NOT? DEBATE."

  • The Atonement is not conditional on anything including faith. The Atonement was unto God first for His satisfaction!

  • "polopowers1": Ephesians 1:1-23 shows that the atonement was predestinated before the foundation of the world & was indeed for God's glory & satisfaction (Isaiah 53).

  • I don't have anything against being a King James onlyist, or using the King James Bible exclusively for your studies, but it has come to my attention that many of the heresies that are being perpetrated and taught on YouTube come from the people who are adamantly King James Onlyists. Some of the worst heresies come from these people.

Having said all of that, I do know of a very few people who proclaim the King James only, who are perfectly good teachers on this website. But they are very few!

  • @Brightstar27 Well said!

  • @CAnswersTV Like your comments. .Sorry for the many comments it is such a difficult scripture. There is in this passage assurance for Jewish believers they don't have to worry because they are sanctified washed in the blood tasted the good word. They cannot fall away because if they did they would crucify the Son of God afresh.Apostates cannot do this and NOBODY has ever put Christ to open SHAME not an apostate no one!And thats what we are suggesting when we say he is describing unbelievers.

  • "Polopowers1" I just now saw this comment after I replied to your other two. Just to reinterate from my previous comment, Hebrews 6:4-8 is talking about unsaved apostates (1 John 2:19) while the writer differentiates true believers from these apostates in Hebrews 6:9ff. Knowing this distinction shows that true believers cannot lose their salvation as many Arminians argue based on their interpretation of Hebrews 6 (2 Corinthians 1:18-22).

  • I actually like for the most part what you have to say here "polopowers1". Thus I'm wondering WHY you say Larry is wrong here. Hebrews 6 is saying that so-called one time "believers in Christ" who have apostatised cannot come back & be "true believers" for it is "impossible" (Hebrews 6;4-8). Hebrew 6:9ff proves that the writer of Hebrews is not talking about true believers in Christ in the previous verses. These "apostates" were never saved to begin with, simply self deluded (1 John 2:19).

  • Neither man is right. This passage is for Jewish believers in warning Paul is declaring after Christ" there are no more sacrifices" What is the result of those who add to Christ "a certain fearful looking for of judgment"Nowcomparison to Moses judgment thought severe.Than, he who is sanctified and minimizes blood is under greater judgment. The directive is to those truly sanctified not making this mistake for judgment. which is for those who might go back never having been sanctified.Confused?

  • I have nothing against the KJV - its very beautiful - but I know that god does teach and reveal Himself thorugh any and all versions of scripture.

The scripture does say in 2 Timothy 2:14 that believers should not quarrel about words, which is esactly what KJV Only advocates do, which is precisley the reason I'm against the KJV Only advocation.
